What a Terex Rigid Dump Truck Emergency Taught Me About Buying Cheap

My phone rang while I was under a wheel loader with a flashlight. It was Rick from Peregrine Rock & Gravel—a quarry named after the falcons that nest on the cliff above the pit. He didn't say hello. "The TR60 is down. I need it hauling by Friday."

My experience is based on mid-sized fleets doing daily haul work. If you're running a big open-pit mine, your approach will be different. But value over price isn't a slogan. It's the answer to the question nobody asks when they're comparing quotes: "What happens if this part fails?"

A Terex rigid dump truck is not the cheapest piece of iron you can buy. It doesn't need to be. It needs to be loaded, and it needs to be hauling. That's the only real measure of value.
